Sparkling wine “Vin Fou” Chardonnay Celebration Brut

“Vin Fou” Chardonnay Celebration Brut – light, harmonious and refreshing white dry sparkling wine, created from the Chardonnay grape variety grown in the vineyards of Burgundy. After harvesting and passing through a press, natural fermentation starts in steel vats, with daily stirring to add complexity to the wine and preserve the freshness and characteristic aromas of Chardonnay.

The Weng Fu label depicts a funny jester surrounded by bubbles, and the name translates from French as “crazy wine”. In the 12th century, winemakers noticed that in the spring some bottles burst, so these wines were called “crazy”. After people learned to cope with “rebellious” bubbles, these wines have gained their honorary title and popularity over the centuries.

The history of sparkling wine “Weng Fu” Chardonnay Celebrasion Brut is closely connected with space. In the late 1950s, when the USSR began placing the first artificial satellites of the Earth into orbit, Henri Meir announced that he would give 1,000 bottles of sparkling wine to whoever was the first to be able to see the far side of the moon. In October 1959, the automatic station “Luna-3” was launched in the USSR, which for the first time circled the moon and transmitted a photo and television image of its invisible side, after which Henri turned to the USSR embassy in France with a request to transfer 1000 bottles of wine to the creators of the station. Embassy workers advised me to write to the USSR Academy of Sciences. Henri sent the wine there and, surprisingly, it got to the right place. Academician Nesmeyanov, President of the USSR Academy of Sciences, ordered to transfer the sparkling wine to OKB-1, which was working on the Luna-3 project. The chief designer of the bureau, Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, ordered the distribution of wine to the employees.

Later, advertising posters and booklets drawn by Paul Grimaud, a classic of French animation, were used, which called for a trip to the moon in bubbles of sparkling wine. Grimaud’s drawings were accompanied by detailed instructions, where Vin Fou was a prerequisite for the flight.
