In 2007 there was a real explosion in the wine industry, and since then “Boom Boom!” Syrah is one of the signature wines not only of Charles Smith Wines, but of the entire state of Washington. This wine is a tribute to the first lost love of Charles, the founder of the company, the woman nicknamed “Boom Boom” O’Brien, and one of the strongest Syrah wines of all time. Unsurprisingly, wine critics and connoisseurs have come to love it. The wine is made from Syrah grapes with a small proportion of Viognier (less than 5%). The grapes harvested at the moment of optimum maturity are partially separated from the ridges (30% of the harvest is vinified with whole bunches) and softly pressed. At the end of the cold maceration, fermentation begins, which takes place at a controlled low temperature in steel vats and lasts 30 days. This is followed by post-fermentation maceration and malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in steel vats for at least 6 months, after which it is filtered, bottled and “resting” in the cellars of the winery for another 3 months.
