Wine Fabiano, “Argillaia” Lugana DOC, 2017

Fabiano company was founded in 1912, when Francesco Fabiano opened a wine shop in Venice, just a few steps from St. Mark’s Basilica. Fabiano studied for a long time only the sale of wines, while in 1955 has not acquired a small estate in the Veronese on the shores of Lake Garda. It is here that were born the first wines Fabiano, who quickly gained popularity throughout Europe.
Today, the main goal is continuous improvement of its wines, ranging from the use of new methods of cultivation of vineyards and ending with the acquisition of the most advanced equipment for wine storage. Currently Fabiano is one of the largest producers of the Veneto region, known not only in Italy but also far beyond its borders.

One of the wines included in the line Fabiano is Pinot Grigio delle Venezia, which belongs to the category IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica). Wines belonging to this class, meet stringent requirements in respect of the territory of origin, grape varieties and winemaking standards and alcohol content. This relatively young category of Italian wines are considered as “reception” in the category of wines DOC, since only five years of wine category IGT, after a series of inspections, tests and rigorous tasting, may qualify for the category of DOC.

Region Venezie IGT is one of the most famous wine regions of Italy, and its products are widely exported to the United States and Great Britain. Approximately 7 of 10 bottles of wine from the region of Venice are made of local Pinot Grigio. And it’s more than just the name of the grape, this unique style of white wine – especially Italian, modern and forward-looking. Pinot Grigio is widely cultivated by local winemakers and hinders penetration into the region of foreign grapes like Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, which range from 3 to 10% of the total wine production in the region of Venice.
