Wine Gaja, “Promis”, Ca Marcanda, Toscana IGT, 2018, 1.5 L

Ca ‘Marcanda, “Promis”, 2012 – delightful Tuscan wine, perfectly combines the elegance of Merlot grapes Syrah and Sangiovese with exquisite rigor. “Promis” – a patented name for a wine produced family Gaia. So Gaia decided to designate fulfillment of the promises, hopes (“promis” – translated as “promise”). Wine “Promise” is pleasant to drink young, and it has great potential maturity (5-8 years). Vineyards for wine production are located in the farm Ca ‘Marcanda, on land with fertile soil composition, rich in clay and minerals (type “terre brune”). The local climate, with hot summer days, cool nights and the fresh sea breeze is beneficial to the quality of the grapes. After harvest each variety is fermented separately. Blending takes place after malolactic fermentation. Kept wine 12 months in barriques used once, no further exposure takes place in the bottle for a few months.

Brand Gaja was founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaia, the great-grandfather of the current owner Angelo Gaja, and for 5 generations, is owned by the family Gaia. To date, Gaja Winery owns vineyards with a total area of 250 hectares, located in the province of Tuscany and Piedmont. Angelo Gaja began its work in the family business in 1961, after completing their education in oenological Institute of Alba and the University of Montpellier (he later received a degree in economics from the University of Turin). Angelo has repeatedly visited France and inspired by modern and traditional techniques of French wine makers began to use the experience gained in the production of their own wines.
