Wine “Il Carbonaione”, Alta Valle della Greve IGT, 2017, gift box, 1.5 L

“Il Carbonaione” – a legendary landmark wine created from a rare grape Sangiovese di Lamole grown on old vines, whose age ranges from 75 to 100 years. The name of the vineyard and the wine of the same name received from the word “coal” (“carbone”), since it is assumed that the on-site vineyard many years ago was a bunker.

“Ile Karbonayone” 2011 is a rich, velvety, seductive wine, with a riot of berry shades in flavor and aroma, has great potential storage. Grapes Sangiovese di Lamole undergoes maceration of the skin, which lasts about 10 days in steel and concrete tanks and accompanied by hand-mixing to provide a better expression of color, texture and taste features. The maturation process occurs in large 350 liter French (90%) and American (10%) oak barrels, of which 50% – new, about 15 months. After bottling the wine is further aged for years in bottle to achieve perfect harmony and balance. As a result, we can enjoy a beautiful, bright and expressive wine “Il Karbonayone”, which is ready to reveal its potential until at least 2030.

Vineyards Podere Poggio Scalette (literally “staircase of the hills”) owes its name to the amazing scenery of the place where they are located – rocky slopes with terraces planted with vines, are the steps of a giant ladder. Podere Poggio Scalette is located in an area called Greve, which is considered the historical center of the Chianti Classico. Greve valley hillsides are recognized among the best in Italy, almost an ideal place for growing grapes and olives. Poder Poggio Scaletta is unique by the fact that one of its sites preserved clones of the famous, very rare and classic Chianti Sangiovese di Lamole. Many of these vines were planted immediately after the First World War, that is, they are almost a hundred years. Vineyards with Sangiovese di Lamole is located at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level. They are oriented to the west and south-west and built of sandy and silty soils, very rich fractional stone.
