“Collezione De Marchi” Chardonnay – monosepazhnoe, unusual Tuscan wines, produced from 1987. The vineyard with Chardonnay, from which the wine is created, is located on a hill on the estate Olena and covers an area of 3 hectares. The cool microclimate allows to obtain grapes with high acidity. The wine is made in the style of Burgundy wines. The fermentation is carried out in oak barrels, of which 1/3 – new wine is kept on the lees for 10-12 months. The first six months of sediment regularly mixed, which is typical Burgundian style.
The beginning of 2012 was dry, cold, rain. The long-awaited rain has stood out in late May-early June, but the summer was still dry and hot, and only from mid-August rainfall was sufficient to satiate the harvest force and moisture.
“Kolletsone De Marchi” Chardonnay 2012 – wine with attractive aroma of the roasted notes of almond and butter, and an incredibly rich flavor with great balance, fruity and creamy shades and complex mineral intonations.
Winery “Isole e Olena” appeared in 1950, when two neighboring estates Isola and Olena were bought and merged aristocratic family De Marchi. The history of both the estates has for hundreds of years. The earliest written reference to the village of Isola is found in the XII century, when viticulture infancy in the region. After purchasing the name of the owner were broken new vineyards and expanded the cellar. Manor “Isole e Olena” is located in the western part of the Chianti Classico region, north of the village of Castellina. 49 hectares of vineyards spread at an altitude of 350-450 meters above sea level, mostly on stony and clay-calcareous soils. Next to the vines grow old olive trees of the crop from which the superb olive oil “Isole e Olena”. Since 1976, the estate operates Paolo De Marchi – experienced in the fourth generation winemaker who knows all the tricks and processes. Enologist Paolo received his degree at the University of Turin, within six months on probation in California, studying the development of wine culture there. In the early 1980s he worked at the Experimental Institute of Enology of Asti in Piedmont. De Marchi set a goal – to bring the winery “Isole e Olena” at a high level and take a leading position in the wine region of Chianti. Under the guidance of Paolo were upgraded cellars, vineyards planted with new sites constantly conducted experiments on the selection of varieties and clones suitable to each area of the terroir.
Paolo – a leading expert on Sangiovese, many years studying its characteristics, currently advises colleagues around the world and cooperates with university faculties of oenology in Italy, Germany, France and California. Paolo constantly traveling the world and monitors new technologies and approaches. Gradually reducing the percentage of white grapes in the composition of Chianti Classico wines, Paolo managed to get a full-bodied wine with good potential storage instead of traditional light, young and sour Chianti. During experiments with Sangiovese in 1980 was created the famous wine Supertuscan “Cepparello”, noted critics perfect score. In the winery are also produced monosepazhnye wines from international grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay), combined in a series of “Collezione De Marchi”. “Isole e Olena” produces one of the best sweet dessert wine “Vin Santo”, using a rather complicated traditional technology . In 2003, the farm was built a new winery, perfect in technical and architectural terms. Currently, Paolo De Marchi with his eldest son leads Hatches another farm and produces wines in the old family estate “Proprieta Sperino” in Piedmont.
