  • Red semi-dry wine La Carraia, Sangiovese, Umbria IGP is made from Sangiovese grapes grown on calcareous soils with a generous content of rocks. The average age of the vines is 18-22 years. Winemakers start harvesting towards the end of September. Stainless steel tanks are used for maceration and fermentation of the wort. The process takes from 16 to 20 days. Wine is aged by French oak barriques for 2 months, which provides the wine with additional smoothness and softness.

    The wine-making enterprise “La Carraia” appeared in 1988 as a result of the cooperation of the owner of the vineyards Odoardo Jaletti and the winemaker Riccardo Cotarella . From a young age, the life of Odoardo Jalette was associated with vineyards. At this time, in Italy, viticulture and winemaking experienced a period of recovery, used new models and methods of production. An energetic and inquisitive young man experimented on his own to create great wines. Having opened a hotel and restaurant at the end of the 60s, Odoardo did not give up his youthful dream, after a few years he finally decided to get serious about winemaking. The decisive role in the creation of the winery was played by the meeting of Jalette with the young but knowledgeable enologist Riccardo Cotarella. As a result of their joint work of many years, the magnificent wines of Orvieto Classico – “Poggio Calvelli”, “Fobiano”, “Tizzonero”, Sangiovese, “Giro di Vite” and “Le Basque” appeared.

    Over the past years, the company “La Carray” firmly established in the national and international wine markets. The farm, which owns 200 acres of vineyards, pays great attention to communication with the land and its biorhythms. Odoardo Jaletti continues fruitful cooperation with the now well-known and respected enologist in Italy and other countries, Riccardo Cotarell. Together with his sons Mauro and Marco, he exercises control over work in the vineyards and the winery, guaranteeing the high quality of the wines produced, reflecting a deep love of nature and respect for human labor.
