Wine “La Grola”, Veronese IGT, 2018

Rich, elegant, full-bodied wine “La Grola” is made from hand-picked grapes grown on the same vineyard “La Grohl” in the valley of Sant’Ambrogio, which is located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The vineyard has a south-eastern exposure, soil composed of clay and limestone, the average age of the vines – 25 years. When Giovanni Allegrini bought “La Grohl” in the 1970s, condemned him as this rocky area was considered totally unproductive. But now Allegrini called a visionary, because it was here in 1983, had two great wine – “La Polya” and “La Grohl” that proved the advantage of the poor, severe soil stone hill, soak up water like a sponge and a great exposure, facing the lake.

In 2011, the harvest for “La Grohl” assembled by hand in the second half of September. After destemming and crushing berries macerated undergone regular remontazhem, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 20-28 C took 15 days, then followed by malolactic fermentation. Maturation drinks are made in oak barrels for 16 months, then wine and mixed for another 2 months left in oak “rest”. After bottling “La Grola” passed additional delay for 10 months. Wine is able to develop in the bottle 10-12 years.

The farm is located in the Allegrini Valpolicella di Fumane. Since the XVI century Allegrini family lives in this small but significant area, located in the Valpolicella Classico, passing the secrets of wine from generation to generation. Giovanni Allegrini was at the forefront of the local wine-making practices of the reformers, he created some of the finest wines “Valpolicella” in 60-70 years of XX century. In the 80s his three children inherited the company.

Today Allegrini vineyards located in the most prestigious areas, cover an area of over 70 hectares. Allegrini rightly considered to be one of the largest landowners in Italy. Among their possessions should be noted manor La Grohl, which produces the most significant amount of products. Family-owned company produces wines of the highest level. Today, winemakers of the region Veneto monitor trends and innovations, which are set by Allegrini, which has become a trendsetter. The manufacturer also did much to promote Venetian wines in the world market. According to the Gambero Rosso – Italian edition of the authoritative, Allegrini considered a “Star” winery, in its arsenal has 21 award “Tre Bicchieri”. “Star” in the Gambero Rosso called those wineries that have won at least 10 points higher.

She headed the family firm since the early seventies, and during that time the house Allegrini was one of the famous wineries of Italy and the largest in the Veneto region.
