Wine “Pago de Los Balagueses” Garnacha Tintorera, Vino de Pago DOP, 2018

“Pago de Los Balagueses” Garnacha Tintorera – dry red wine with fragrant berry-spicy aroma and juicy, elegant, long-lasting taste. The wine is made from Garnacha Tintorera grapes grown in the organic vineyard of the Pago le Los Balageses estate. The vineyard with an area of 7 hectares is laid out at an altitude of 780 meters above sea level, the age of the vines exceeds 35 years. Harvested by hand at the time of optimal phenolic maturity. After destemming and pressing, the resulting must is fermented in French (70%) and Hungarian (30%) oak barrels and aged in them for about 12 months. After bottling, the wine matures in the cellars of the winery for another 6 months. Wine storage capacity is 8 years.

The Pago les Los Balageses estate is one of the 17 estates that have received the DOP Vino de Pago designation to date, comparable to the French Grand Cru classification, according to the Spanish system. Privileged vineyard economy is located in a secluded area, completely surrounded by forests in the mountainous natural park of Las Hoses del Cabriel, with an ideal microclimate and soil for growing grapes. The excellent soil of the site consists of natural chalk, marl and sandy loam, with limestone rocks in the main part and sand and gravel rocks at lower levels, formed as a result of slope erosion. The vineyard is planted mainly with Syrah and Garnacha Tintorera, and there is also a small area with Merlot and Chardonnay vines.
