Wine Tenuta di Trinoro, “Sancaba” Pinot Nero, Toscana IGT, 2019

“Sancaba” – the novelty of the legendary winemaker from Tuscany Andrea Franchetti. The wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the hills of San Kashyano dei Bagni (name of the wine “Sankaba” is an abbreviation of the name of the area), in the south of the province of Siena. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level. Features terroir – the clay-limestone soil with a high content of the shale, beautiful natural ventilation, the temperature drop during the growing season – perfect for growing Pinot Noir. Vineyards are surrounded by oak forests, the neighborhood which gives him a special Pinot fragrance with hints of wild cherry, truffle and undergrowth.

Andrea Franchetti founded Tenuta di Treanor in 1992 with the aim to make the best wine in Italy. As a wine merchant, he was fascinated by the great wines of the right bank of the Bordeaux region. In his cellar, he would like to repeat the experience of the wine while keeping Italian traditions. After several years of searching, Franchetti found the perfect place for the project near the village of Sarteano in southeastern Tuscany. Perched high on a hill overlooking the river Orcia, Tenuta di Treanor protected from maritime influence from the west Mount Amiata and internal fog to the east Mount Cetona. The limestone soil rich in vineyards and clay gravel mixture. Planting of vines began in 1992 with international varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, as well as a small proportion of the Italian grape Chezane d’Affile.

Franchetti produced two wines – “Tenuta di Treanor”, which is a blend of Cabernet Franc (80%) and the proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and “Palazzi” created from an equal mix of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. These fabulous wines marked by a great structure and concentration, layered taste with notes of ripe fruit and spices bulk, which give the wines an exotic character. Currently, the range of wines from Tenuta di Treanor appeared “Le Cupole” (Dome) – a blend of all four major varieties grown.
